Questions about Scite alternatives
Is Papero a Scite alternative?
For writing, yes. Papero gives you an outline, sentence suggestions, rewrites, OpenAlex paper search, lookup by DOI, PMID, arXiv ID or ISBN, and six review checks in one editor. For judging how a paper has been cited, Scite does a different job.
Which is cheaper, Papero or Scite?
Papero Plus is $12 a month or $96 a year, VAT included, and Papero has a free plan. Scite listed Basic at $12 / month and Pro at $40 / month, both billed yearly, with a 7-day free trial, when we checked in October 2026.
Does Papero check the sources I cite?
Yes. The source check flags cited papers that are retracted, preprints, rarely cited or could not be checked, and on Plus the citation report checks each cited sentence against its sources' titles and abstracts.
